Product Description

Made for the 15-22 Pistol, but can be used on the Rifle as well.

Quickly and easily tighten the factory barrel nut with our barrel nut wrench.
Remove or replace the handguard on your Smith & Wesson (S&W) M&P15-22 using the S&W M&P15-22 Breech Block Wrench by Tacticool22.
This is the original and only one available.

CAUTION: Do NOT hold any 15-22 by the upper or lower receiver for doing any barrel work!!! DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.

Only use our Breech Block Wrench for the pistol. Otherwise you can ruin your pistol.

You must use this tool gently. Tighten the barrel nut to no more than 20 Ft. Lbs. of torque. Or hand tight plus 1 “hour on a clock face” with a wrench on our barrel nut wrench.
Any tighter and you risk ruining things. If the feed ramp “jumps” out of the slot…you have tightened it way too much and we will not accept any responsibility for any damage to anything.

Using the S&W M&P 15-22 Breech Block Wrench by Tacticool22, you can:

  • Tighten a loose barrel nut on the S&W M&P15-22 without having to clamp on the barrel. This is helpful if accuracy is starting to deviate or you’re getting a lot of “flyers.”
  • Remove the factory barrel nut on the S&W M&P 15-22 to remove the barrel for a thorough cleaning.
  • Replace the stock S&W M&P15-22 handguard with a free float or 2-piece handguard, when using the Tacticool22 Free Float Handguard Converter (sold separately or in kits) or one the Tacticool22 Aluminum Free Float Hand Guards built specifically for the 15-22.

CAUTION: Do NOT hold any 15-22 by the upper or lower receiver for doing any barrel work!!! DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.

Our Tacticool22 Barrel Vise Jaws work great for holding your rifle in vise jaws when the hand guard is removed.

S&W M&P15-22 Breech Block Wrench Instructions:

S&W M&P15-22 Breech Block Wrench is used when the barrel is inaccessible so you can tighten a loose barrel nut or flash hider. Or remove the barrel nut or flash hider to fully clean every crevice or install one of our 15-22 specific hand guards or free float hand guard adapter nut.
NEVER hold onto the upper when doing any kind of barrel torquing.

You need a good quality bench vise that is mounted solidly.
Anything used other than a vise to hold the Breech Block Wrench on the clamping flats will void the warranty. It can also lead to damage of the ejector bar and Breech Block Wrench.

There is nothing that needs to be torqued beyond 20 Ft. Lbs. The crush washer will have the highest torque value. Over-torquing WILL lead to catastrophic damage. Use the tool with care and forethought.

1. Clamp the Breech Block Wrench with the notch towards you
2. Remove bolt and charging handle
3. Separate upper from lower
4. Slide upper onto the Breech Block Wrench with the large opening facing you. Ejector port to the left. Picatinny rail away from you.
5. Make sure the feed ramp is fully seated in the slot
6. Remove flash hider or muzzle device (if installed) by unscrewing it.
Standard 1/2-28 Right Hand Threads
7. Remove hand guard end cap.
8. Use our barrel nut wrench to tighten or loosen the barrel nut.
9. When reinstalling the barrel nut (or our hand guard barrel nut or free float hand guard adapter nut) DO NOT use any thread lock. A single drop of multipurpose (CLP) oil will be just fine.
10. Tighten to 20 Ft. Lbs. A simple rule of thumb is hand tight plus no more than 2 hours on a clock face or 60 degrees.
